On Saturday May 4, from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon, all the youth in 4th Orleans were planting over 300 trees in our community. The youth were also collecting donations to cover the cost of the trees, support their group and also support the Scouts Canada Brotherhood fund. Environmental and community work are main components of the Scouting Program. The Beaver, Cub, and Scout whom collects the highest pledges for this fundraiser were rewarded with a special thank you gift.
The site this year was the East Side of 10th Line between the Old Tenth Line/New 10th line intersections (Grace Church) and the Charlemagne /Tompkins intersection.
The Ottawa-Carleton School Board has drastically increased facility rental fees, which will directly affect us in September. Scouts Canada has also informed us the cost for insurance coverage for our members has tripled for next year.
Our intention is to be able to run our current program without increasing the cost to our parents. Therefore it was vital all 4th Orleans participated in this event.
Thank you for supporting your 4th Orleans Scout Group.
