Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Sharon Thomson. Note the missing “p”. I am a wife and mother of four and a Foster Parent. This is my full time job. I have completed many things in my first decade of scouting and am looking forward to working with the Areas, Council and Field Staff in meeting the objectives outlined in the KRE’s. With many tools in my collection and being a good Beaver, I will be sharing these tools over the course of the year. Tool for July is School Talks.
School Talks are an effective tool
to promote Scouting to Youth and Adults in your Area. It is cost effective
with a minimum amount of pre-planning, but can net great results.
Step 1. Contact the Field
staff for dates that they are available.
Step 2. Contact the school(s) and
confirm a date.
Step
3. The Field Staff will mail or e-mail a pre-package.
Step 4. Make a flyer that has
the detailed information of the local group(s). Do not include costs of
uniforms or registration. This is more effectively done in person or over
the phone.
Step
5. Have Fun at the School Talk.
School Talks are one of the objectives on the KRE’s and I would be happy to assist the Areas in completing this objective. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Yours in Scouting,
Sharon Thomson, DCC Membership
