OPEN HOUSE - BRING ON THE ADVENTURE
Here's a great way to kick off the Scouting year! Scouts Canada is
hosting an "Adventure Day" for all members and the public on Saturday,
September 16 at the Voyageur and National offices on 1345 Baseline
Road. >From 9am-5pm, there'll be lots of exciting activities for kids
young and old such as rope bridges, obstacle courses, face painting,
and many more! There'll also be a tasty free BBQ lunch, a gigantic
Scout Shop sale, and at 1:30 p.m. ceremony to dedicate the newly
renovated offices. Bring your group and "Bring on the Adventure" as we
kick off an exciting Scouting year!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
FROM THE DESK OF THE COMMISH!!
Welcome back everyone. The adventures have begun with the national
announcement of our fall registration campaign and two new short term
programs under SCOUTsabout and Extreme Adventure (see page 32 in the
August/September issue of the Leader Magazine). As we set our program
goals for the coming year, I wish to bring to your attention, the
Commissioner's Quality Awards. This is a regional award in recognition
of delivery of a quality program. There are six applications available,
one for each of the program sections and one for the Group Committee.
Completion of a certain number of requirements provides the section or
committee with a Red award or a Gold award. A total of seventy-one
awards were presented for the 1999-2000 year. I have set a goal of 50
Red and 150 Gold awards for the 2000-20001 year. The applications
should be distributed by your District service team within the next
month. I hope to see your Group's name on an application next June.
- Marilyn Johnson - Your Regional Commissioner
